It’s Banned Books Week, Sept. 30 – Oct. 6. Check out the Media Center web site for lists
and information about books that have been banned in certain locations across
the country. What are banned books? How does a book become banned from a
library?
Did you know that libraries and librarians are here to uphold
our individual right to read as part of the first amendment? At the school library level, books are chosen
according to the district Materials Selection policy. School librarians select books that support
our educational curriculum, are developmentally appropriate, represent the
diversity of our pluralistic society, and address the reading needs and
preferences of our students.
