2017 Senior Graduation Party Planning Kickoff Meeting

What is the Century Senior Graduation Party?

 A fun all-night party for all CHS 2017 Graduates to celebrate with their classmates!  Activities include great entertainment, prizes, food, games, hypnotist, music, photos, and more surprises throughout the night.
 A tradition at Century HS for 16 years, with similar parties held all over the country.
 The goal is to offer a safe environment so the Graduates may celebrate with no alcohol, no drugs, and no driving!

The first 2017 Senior Graduation Party planning meeting will be held:
Thursday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m., North Cafeteria, Century High School
Our seniors party Co-Chairs are:

Michael Benjamin
Nancy Duffield
Dana Duffield
Michelle Laughlin

Some senior parents that have led and/or helped on committees in the past have already graciously offered to help with the 2017 party and recruitment of others to assist. Senior parents are responsible for the planning, organizing, and hosting. Many parent volunteers are needed to assure a successful and memorable fun event for our children!

Your creativity and ideas for making this event fun and memorable are appreciated. Typically, there is a theme for the party. We’d love your input for the theme for this year’s Senior Party. To get your creative juices flowing, here are some party themes from previous years: Century Cinema, Vacation of the Century, Night at the Museum, App, App, and Away, Enjoy the Ride, Cruise Down Memory Lane, and #withlovefrommn.

Bring your ideas to the meeting or email them to:
century2017seniorparty@gmail.com
Please join us to learn more about the Senior Party and how you can help.

Visit the Senior Party website for more information: http://century.rochester.k12.mn.us/resources/senior_party/senior_party_2017_information

See you there!

Z.A.P. Program

What is Z.A.P.?
Z.A.P. (Zeros Aren’t Permitted) is a mandatory academic intervention for all 9th and 10th grade students.  The purpose is to help students recognize the importance of completing all assigned assignments from their respective classes.  During the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year, Century High School piloted our Z.A.P. program with six, 10th grade teachers.  Ninety-three percent of students who were “ZAPPED” successfully completed missing assignments.
How does my child receive a Z.A.P. referral?
·       Your child’s teachers submit a Google Doc referral to our Success Coaches-Mr. Leloux and Mrs. Tunjic-Stjepanovic.
·       Our Success Coaches follow-up with each student that is referred.
·       Students work with our Success Coaches to complete all missing work during their lunch period, Study Hall, or before and/or after school.
How will I know if my child receives a Z.A.P. referral?
You will receive an automated Skyward email that informs you that your child received a Z.A.P. referral from a teacher.
Is this considered a disciplinary action towards my child?
No.  Our objective is to offer extended support and guidance to ensure students are keeping up with classroom expectations, learning necessary and critical information, and not falling so far behind that a student loses hope and ultimately fails to receive credit for a course.
If your child is not responding to our Z.A.P. protocol, you will be contacted by a Century High School administrator for a parent/guardian conference.  We want to have strong partnerships with families so we can ensure student success.
Who can I contact if I have any questions about the Z.A.P. Program?
·       Marcus Leloux-Success Coach   maleloux@rochester.k12.mn.us
·       Natasa Tunjic-Stjepanovic   natunjic@rochester.k12.mn.us
·       Molly Murphy-Associate Principal -9th grade administrator   momurphy@rochester.k12.mn.us
