Skyward Student Information Verification

Dear Parent/Guardian:

In preparation for the 2016-2017 school year, we have opened the Student Information Verification process in the Skyward Family Access portal.  Please log into your Skyward Family Access account to update Family and Emergency Contact data, as well as set-up your Skylert calling notification preferences for this school year.

As you work through the verification process, after completing a step, be sure to click on the bottom box to mark that step as complete.

Please complete this online verification process before your school’s schedule pick up day.

Watch for a separate email coming shortly after this one with the details of your Family Access username and a link to set your password for your Family Access Account.  Please disregard that email if you already know your user name and password.

If you know you already have an account and are uncertain of your login id or password, please click on the ‘Forgot your Login/Password?” and enter your email address or your username.  (This process will not work for district staff.  Your district login/password must be used and cannot be changed in this section.)

**If you are a former RPS staff person and a parent, please note we are having technical issues with how you access your Family Access account.  Please email:  Skyward2@rochester.k12.mn.us or call 328-4417 for assistance.

If you have not received a Skyward Family Access account at this time, you will have the opportunity to register for access during schedule pickup day at your student’s school.   You will be able to update your family/child’s data at that time as well.

** TO CHANGE AN ADDRESS**    Please visit the District Website at:  http://www.rochester.k12.mn.us/departments/transportation_services/forms/address_change_form/  Please print the change of address form, complete the form, and attach proof of residency.  Proof of residency can be a copy off the front page of a purchase agreement, lease, or current utility bill. Address change forms and proof of residency can be returned in person or mailed to 615 7th Street SW, Rochester, MN 55902, faxed to the Registration and Records Office at (507) 281-6086, or emailed to:  registration@rochester.k12.mn.usregistration@rochester.k12.mn.us .

Booster Club Welcomes You to Century!


The Century Booster Club raises money through concession sales and the Panther School Store. All money raised is given back to benefit a variety of students, clubs and sports at Century. We donate not only to athletics, but also to various academic programs, arts, music, science and technology. Booster Club also offers a $500 scholarship each year to six seniors whose parent(s)/guardian(s) are members of Booster Club (as of December 31, 2016).

All members are encouraged to volunteer by helping in the school store, working in concessions at the varsity football games or sitting on the board. Volunteer commitments can be as minimal as a few hours for the entire school year! Volunteering is not necessary to being a member of the Booster Club.

All members are given a $5 coupon for the school store and their names are entered in a drawing to win a CHS sweat shirt at this year's Homecoming Football Game!

Back to School Information 2016-17

NOTE FROM CHRIS FOGARTY, PRINCIPAL, CENTURY HIGH SCHOOL:
School is just around the corner! I hope this message finds you in good health and good spirits! Every year, summer seems to fly by faster and faster. We are really excited to have you back in school and hear about the memories you made throughout the summer. As August approaches, I ask that you continue to enjoy your summer time with family and friends and routinely check the website and/or Century Panther Press for the latest updates related to Century.

SCHEDULE PICKUP DATES AND TIMES:

9th Grade - Monday, August 22 4:00pm to 7:00pm
Century planners will be available for purchase for $5.00. Students are encouraged, but not required, to purchase a Century planner.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2016
All freshmen should report to school by 7:40am. LINK Crew will meet them and guide them through their first day at Century High School.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors should report to school at 11:10am. If they arrive prior to 11:10am they should report to the cafeteria.
Lunch will be served for all students at 10:15.

DAILY SCHEDULES:
The Century Daily Schedule indicates the period schedule for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. First hour begins at 7:40am Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Century Tuesday Schedule is different due to Teacher Collaboration and Advisement.
First hour begins at 8:10am EVERY Tuesday.

PANTHER PARENT ORIENTATION NIGHT
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SEPTEMBER 12, 2016
Panther Parent Schedule Orientation will be held on Monday, September 12 from 6:00-8:40pm. First hour begins promptly at 6:05 pm. Panther Parent Schedule Orientation gives parents/families the opportunity to follow your student's schedule hour by hour and meet with their teachers.
Please bring a copy of your child's schedule with you. You can access your child's schedule through Skyward.

Attention Parents of Juniors

Senior Party Clean-Up – Parents of Juniors

On Sunday morning, June 12th, 2016, we will need your help with the Senior Party clean-up. The party ends at 5:00 a.m. and this is when the clean-up begins. Please arrive between 5 - 6 a.m. at the main entrance. With enough help we hope to be done by 9 a.m.

Wear old clothes appropriate for clean-up work. Some wheel-barrow work will be required to remove landscaping decorations. Please come and make this a fun event to end the 2016 school year! This is a great opportunity to set the stage and start planning for the Class of 2017 Senior Party!

Attention Seniors.

Seniors are required to take the shuttle bus from Century to Mayo Civic Center for graduation practice.
Busses leave Century promptly at 8:30 and 8:45 AM on Friday, June 10.  

The return busses will leave Mayo Civic Center after graduation practice.

Mock Crash - Parent Coordinator Needed

Parents/Volunteers, 
We need a coordinator for the 2016 Mock Crash, to be held during Homecoming Week 2016 (first week of October).  The Mock Crash dramatizes an emergency caused by driving under the influence or texting while driving.  Rochester Police Department, Emergency Services, and Mayo One participate in this realistic and effective event.  We need to schedule the participants this Spring, so we need a coordinator soon.  Training and contact information will be provided.

Yearbooks

Century Families,

We are conditionally extending the opportunity to order a 2016 yearbook from Jostens until June 10, 2016.  The condition Jostens requires is a minimum order of 25 yearbooks to justify an order.  The price of the yearbook is $120.00.  Here is what you need to do:
  •           Submit a check for $120.00 made out to Century High School
  •        Tracy Milligan in the Century Main Office is collecting checks
  •        Deadline is Friday, June 10, 2016
If we don’t receive the minimum number of orders, we will contact you to get permission to destroy your check or have you come and pick it up.  Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. Fogarty by email.  chfogarty@rochester.k12.mn.us

Graduation 2016 DVD

DVDs of the graduation ceremony will be available for $15.00 on a prepaid basis. Please sign up in the main office at Century by June 19. Please make checks payable to ISD 535.

Book Returns

Dear CHS Families,

We need to partner with you to ensure all CHS books are returned in a timely manner.  Please work with your CHS student(s) and be sure they have all textbooks, library books, etc. ready to return to school during finals next week-June 7th- 9th.  Parents of seniors, please be sure this is in place by June 6th.  Should you find a CHS resource at your home after school lets out for the summer, please return to the CHS main office.

Seniors - Report Your Post High School Plans and Awards - Due May 27

Seniors and Parents - CLICK HERE to report your post high-school plans and award/honors information.
  • Post high-school plan information will be used to create a Power Point of college/university, community/technical college, vocational school, apprenticeship, branch of the military, employer or other plans of the members of the Class of 2016. 
  • Awards information will be used at the Senior Academic and Scholarship Awards Ceremony on June 7. Seniors will be recognized for their academic accomplishments and scholarships they received. Reporting this information is optional. 

 The deadline for completing this form is Friday, May 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.

Pertussis

Olmsted County Public Health Services has received five reports of lab confirmed diagnosis of pertussis during the week of May 16th . There is a possibility that students and staff have been exposed to pertussis over the past four weeks. Olmsted County Public Health recommends that all students and staff be alert for symptoms of pertussis. If any symptoms are present, contact your health care provider to discuss this possible exposure and the steps that should be taken to prevent illness and the possibility of further spread of the disease.

If you or your student is experiencing a persistent cough lasting more than one week, develops a cough over the next three weeks, coughing in uncontrollable fits, vomits or gags after coughing, and/or has difficulty breathing, keep the student at home and contact your health care provider to request a test for pertussis. Anyone who is tested should be kept home until test results are known or antibiotic regimen is complete (if applicable).

CALLING ALL JUNIOR PARENTS!! We need you on June 12th!

You're close to being a senior parent - which means next year at this time, you'll be busy finishing up plans for the senior party!
That's next year...but THIS year, it's tradition that each year, junior parents show up at the school around 5:00 am to remove the sets and clean up after the party. The length of time it takes depends on the number of volunteers. Bring a coffee and some work gloves and come help make light work of an awesome event!
