ACT Pre-Registration Date Change and ACT and MCA Math Information for Juniors

Due to a delay in the ACT shipment, our ACT pre-registration session will move from Thursday to this Friday.
Juniors will complete the pre-registration for the April 2nd ACT on Friday, March 8th in the cafeteria at the start of the school day. Students should plan on reporting directly to the cafeteria first hour on Friday and most students will find the pre-registration activity takes about an hour.
Juniors will also take the MCA Math test online in our computer labs during the week of March 11-15. Students will find the date, time, and location for their MCA Math test posted outside the C/D office and by the main office this Friday.
Then, after spring break, Juniors will take the ACT on April 2nd while other grades will have the day off. This is an official ACT paid for by Rochester Public Schools at no cost to the student, and this test can be used for college admission and scholarship purposes.
MCA results generally come back in August, right around the start of the new school year. ACT results should be available a few weeks after completion of testing. Testing should be minimally disruptive and provide important feedback for both the individual students and the school. The state does, however, provide an annual opt out option to families, which requires the return of the state form with a parent signature to the school. Students should also be made aware that the MCA Reading and Math tests can be used for college course placement by the Minnesota State college system and a strong showing will place students at college level in these areas, allowing them to potentially avoid both additional college placement testing and remediation coursework in college.
