Century High School - Family News

Hello Century Families -

As we are planning for the April 5th date of returning to school in-person or remaining distant  learning for the remainder of the school year here are some additional details.

  • Thank you for completing the survey to let us know your choice of learning models.
  • Calls are being made to families we did not hear back from
  • If we are not able to make a connection with a family member we will assume the  student is returning to in-person learning

For those students returning to school in-person here are our general expectations:

  • Masks worn at all times while in the building except when eating lunch.
  • Appropriate masks are those that completely cover the nose and mouth and fit against the sides of your face.

    • No gaiters or bandanas allowed.

  •  Social distancing before and after school while in the building, in the hallways during  passing time and lunch time.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Lunch times:

    • Our lunchroom will include both cafeterias and bleachers in the gym. One  student at the high top tables, 2 students at the round tables and if on the  bleachers spaced 6 feet apart. There will be QR codes at each table, high top,  and on the bleachers that students will need to fill out each day for contract  tracing purposes.

  • We will have an open campus for juniors and seniors.
  • 9th and 10th graders will have study halls assigned.
  • 11th and 12th graders will also have an area assigned to them in the building if choosing  to stay on campus during an open hour.
  • If you do not ride the bus please try to come to school after 7:15am and leave at 2:33pm.
  • Locker rooms will not be available 4th quarter. Students will not be changing for PE  classes. Students will be asked to make sure they have tennis shoes with them for any  PE classes
  • Our schedule for 4th quarter has 5 minute passing times between classes. Students will  be asked not to congregate in the halls or other open areas to help with social distancing  efforts.
  • It is important that we all work together on our best effort to do mitigation strategies. We  are asking parents to go over expectations with each of your students with everyone's  safety in mind and appreciate your support in providing the best possible learning  environment.
  • There will be more mitigation strategies coming at the end of the week. These will be  shared as we have them available.

APRIL 5TH SCHEDULE:

  • 9th graders and new to the building 10-12 graders will participate in orientation from 7:40am - 10:40am. Students will receive a group number via email ahead of April 5th so they know where to go upon arrival to the building.

  • Students will be placed in groups of 10 with a student government or link crew leader traveling with them through 5 stations (student panel Q & A, meet with Administration to go over COVID-19 expectations and protocols, social distanced team building activity, school tour, and SEL (social emotional learning) activity in a classroom with a teacher).

  • Lunch will be provided from 10:40 - 11:10 for any student.

We know there are many questions about prom, graduation and the senior party.

★ A survey has been sent out to seniors asking for input about both “prom” and the senior  party. Several questions are on the survey

★ We are looking at May 15 for a very modified “prom” that would be at Century for  Century seniors only, outside with more details to come

★ Graduation conversations are happening at the cabinet level with building input

★ COVID-19 guidelines along with district expectations will be where our guidance comes so a  reminder to families that any planning that is done is tentative and subject to change
