Hybrid Learning Model

Hybrid Learning Model Survey

PLEASE COMPLETYE THIS SURVEY LINK; https://forms.gle/xJXbQfaUc6k7eiCBA

As the school year progresses, we have been collaborating and planning for our eventual return to in-person learning at the middle and high school level.  As we engage in planning for the most robust learning experience possible, it will be helpful to have a general idea of the number of students who will participate in a hybrid model of instruction when it is determined it is safe to do so.

In order for families to make the best decision for their student(s), we would like to provide a very basic outline of what the hybrid model could look like. Please know that the plan below would be further adjusted and will become more specific as we gain an understanding of the number of students who may opt to participate.

The tentative start and end time for the school day would be 7:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for high school and 7:40 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for middle school.  In keeping with the elementary hybrid model, students would split into two groups with Group 1 attending in-person on Monday and Tuesday and Group 2 attending in-person on Thursday and Friday.  Students in Group 1 would participate in distance learning on Thursday and Friday while students in Group 2 would participate in distance learning on Monday and Tuesday. All students would have a distance learning day on Wednesday. This day would be used for project-based work, in-person supports and reassessments, small group instruction, one-to-one conferencing, and student support groups.

In other words, during the course of a regular week, hybrid learning would consist of two days of direct, in-person instruction from a teacher and 3 days of students working from home.

At this time, we anticipate remaining on the block schedule. This would mean a student would take part in up to four classes per day. When in person, students would be in class with approximately 50% of the students attending.

 Components of Hybrid Model:

  • Allows for in-person learning
  • Provides students more immediate access to feedback, reteaching and support
  • Provides more opportunities for hands-on learning
  • Provides more opportunities for face-to-face interaction and relationship building
  • Provides more opportunities for both the in-person group and the distance learning group to collaborate and support one another

Safety Considerations in a Hybrid model:

  • Implementation of all mitigation strategies, including masking, small group size and social distancing
  • Modified lunch hour; no open campus, lunchroom seating plan
  • Limited time spent in hallways, lobbies, and other common spaces
  • Limited overall building capacity
