Century will be offering the PSAT to all Juniors who wish to take it on October 14 at Century. The PSAT is an optional practice test for the SAT, and also used for qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Competition and related programs. The PSAT is directly comparable to the SAT, and as a timed standardized test on academic skills is somewhat comparable to the ACT.
By taking this and comparing your score to how you do on the ACT junior year, you can decide whether it might make sense to take an SAT as well. The PSAT also serves as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Competition when taken Junior year. It is a standardized test that consists of tests in Reading, Writing & Language and Math. Students can pick up a PSAT information packet that includes a paper practice test at the Century main entry during school hours.
Complete the form and pay $17 by October 7 to register. Note that you must be logged into an isd535 student account to access the form. The link to the payment site will follow completion of the form. Students eligible for free or reduced lunch can select to pay by fee waiver instead.
